PPWI Chairman Attends Commemoration of the 53rd National Day of the Sultanate of Oman

FU, Jakarta – General Chairman of the Indonesian Citizen Journalists Association (Persatuan Pewarta Warga Indonesia – PPWI), Wilson Lalengke, had the opportunity to attend the Sultanate of Oman’s National Day celebration event organized by the Omani Embassy in Jakarta, at the Westin Hotel Ballroom, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday, November 20 2023. The PPWI Chairman was accompanied by other his administrators, namely the Deputy General Chairman, Mung Pujanarko; Deputy Treasurer, Winarsih; and Expert Council, Dr. Geni Sunaryo.

This was conveyed by Wilson Lalengke to media networks throughout the country after attending an invitation from the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Indonesia, H.E. Sheik Mohamed bin Ahmed Salim AL SHANFARI, at the Westin Hotel. According to him, there were a lot of guests attending the event, almost 500 people, most of whom were embassy officials from many friend-countries to the Sultanate of Oman.

Several important figures who attended included the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr Budi Gunadi Sadikin, representing the Indonesian Government, the Palestinian Ambassador, H.E. Dr. Zulhas S. M. Alshun, and First Secretary of the Ukrainian Embassy, H.E. Madam Svitlana Bondarenko. Apart from that, there were also officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Mr Bagus Hendraning Kobarsih, who serves as Middle East Director.

In the first part of his speech, the Omani Ambassador expressed his deep concern over what was happening in the Gaza Strip. Sheik Mohamed bin Ahmed Salim AL SHANFARI firmly condemned Israel’s brutal attacks on Palestinians which have claimed tens of thousands of lives. Due to this humanitarian tragedy, the Government of the Sultanate of Oman urges Israel to stop attacks as soon as possible against the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, regarding the friendly relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Indonesia, Ambassador Sheik Mohamed bin Ahmed Salim AL SHANFARI hopes that these ties of friendship will become stronger in the future. The Ambassador also hopes that cooperation between the two countries will be further enhanced in the future and expanded in various fields.

“We are looking forward to work increasingly, both on the government side and private side,” said the Omani Ambassador while adding various sectors that could be collaborated with.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Government, through Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, in his speech said that today he accompanied President Joko Widodo at the departure ceremony for the Indonesian aid package to Gaza. He also added that in the near future the Indonesian Government will send another aid package containing basic necessities and health materials for Palestinians.

Responding the Omani Ambassador’s outlook to increase cooperation between the two countries, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin conveyed the fact that Oman is famous for its shipping technology, while Indonesia is famous for its courage to sail the seas to the coast of South America. If these two great abilities are united, the greatness of Omani shipbuilding and the greatness of Indonesian sailing, then this collaboration will produce extraordinary results.
